It sounds crazy, but home gyms are still a rage. Many users convert their rooms in order to fit their fitness equipment and create a good home gym in their home. Because home gyms provide privacy, save time and convenient, they are preffered. Assess your financial capabilities and figure out what do you need from a home gym, then you will be able to make a decent buying decision. It won’t necessarily take cost a lot of money. A good used spinning bike can be a perfectly reasonable place to start and you can do it on the cheap.

Most important thing – do not cram your home gym with all sorts of fitness equipment. In case you want to do cardio exercises, then something like a treadmill or an elliptical trainer would be best for you, even a Swiss ball will do. To do some muscle building, a smith machine that goes for $400 would be very welcome. The cost of building a multi-gym to tone-up muscles can cost a cool $4800 upwards. By this I mean on several things like ventilation, flooring, lighting and music.

The minimum area needed to build a home gym is about 150 square feet. Some space for moving around should be present too. If you have a large area to fill, then be my guest and squeeze in a Jacuzzi too. In addition to equipment like elliptical trainer, treadmills and power plate machines, its good to have free weights and dumb bells. You should refrain from building your home gym in the basement area.

One more important issue when building a gym is flooring. Choose between two types of flooring, vinly and rubber. Advantage of rubber flooring is that it cushions any falls. Unlike with carpeted floorimng and tiled floor, you will be able to stand, walk and run comfortably. The plus is that a rubber flooring reduces the impact you create with your fitness equipment. And the rubber floor is also easily cleaned and maintained. Vynil flooring is easily cleaned, which makes it hygienic, and the noise is reduced to aceptable level.
